SPEAKING TOPICS:

  • Trust and Leadership Under Pressure

  • The Power of Inclusion and Accessibility

  • Communication, Awareness, and Teamwork

  • What Would You Do When…?

Michael Hingson doesn’t speak about inspiration. He teaches how people, teams, and leaders actually function under pressure, and how to train for it.

Trust and Leadership Under Pressure

In moments of crisis, systems fail, but trust either holds or collapses. Drawing from his experience as a senior technology leader and as a survivor of September 11, Michael Hingson reframes leadership as the ability to create clarity, calm, and confidence before pressure hits. This talk shows how trust is intentionally built through preparation, communication, and relationships and why leaders who rely on authority or control fail when it matters most.

Michael challenges audiences to rethink leadership not as charisma or command, but as disciplined readiness and human connection under stress.

Key Takeaways

  • Trust is built before crisis, not during it
  • Calm leadership consistently outperforms fear-based decision making
  • Preparation and shared expectations reduce panic and error
  • Leaders set emotional tone—whether intentionally or not
  • High-trust cultures move faster and recover stronger under pressure

The Power of Inclusion and Accessibility

Inclusion is not a compliance exercise—it is a performance strategy. Blind since birth, Michael brings a lived perspective that dismantles assumptions about disability, limitation, and capability. He shows how accessibility and inclusive thinking unlock innovation, strengthen teams, and reveal talent organizations routinely overlook.

This talk moves beyond diversity language and focuses on how inclusive design, accessible systems, and mindset shifts create measurable competitive advantage.

Key Takeaways

  • Disability does not mean lack of ability
  • Accessibility drives innovation, not cost
  • Inclusive teams outperform homogeneous ones
  • Designing for the margins improves outcomes for everyone
  • Leaders must move from awareness to intentional inclusion

Communication, Awareness, and Teamwork

When stakes are high, communication either saves time—or costs lives. Michael explores how awareness, listening, and clear communication create effective teamwork under pressure. Using real-world examples, he demonstrates how breakdowns occur not from lack of intelligence, but from assumptions, distractions, and failure to truly listen.

This session equips teams to communicate with purpose, maintain situational awareness, and act decisively without chaos.

Key Takeaways

  • Awareness is a skill that must be trained
  • Listening is a leadership discipline, not a soft skill
  • Clear roles and expectations reduce confusion under stress
  • Strong teams communicate before they need to
  • Trust accelerates coordination and execution

What Would You Do When…?

Emergencies are rarely about luck; they are about mindset and preparation. In this powerful and practical talk, Michael walks audiences through how people actually respond in unexpected, high-stress situations, and how to train the mind to avoid panic and make clear decisions.

Using lessons from emergency response, leadership, and life experience, he shows how fear can be managed, focus sharpened, and action taken, even when the plan disappears.

Key Takeaways

  • Fear can be controlled and redirected into focus
  • Preparation creates confidence when plans fail
  • Awareness improves survival and decision quality
  • Everyone has leadership capacity in the right moment
  • The right mindset turns chaos into manageable action
